Yesterday was Ainsley's second day of swimming lessons. I'm still not all that impressed with the teacher's techniques but something is working because by the end of the lesson Ainsley was "swimming" with her face in the water :)!! What do I know anyway, LOL?!
She started out the class being very nervous. The very first rotation consisted of the teacher in the pool and the kids on the edge. They were supposed to jump to her and she was letting them go under before pulling them back up to the surface. Now, Ainsley, being Ainsley, was the very first in line to have a turn. I bet she wishes she had let someone else go first once she realized what the lesson was, haha. Anyway, they did two rotations of this and she put up quite a fight the second time around. Finally she jumped in while holding the teacher's hands and after being promised that she wouldn't go under (which the teacher did keep her word on that).
It was towards the end of the lesson that Ainsley decided to show off to her daddy by showing him how she could put her face underwater (holding her nose). Ray told her that unless she did it without holding her nose that he wouldn't be impressed. He wouldn't even watch her, haha. Her reaction at first was "fine then, don't watch!"... very typical Ainsley attitude. But I think the lack of attention from daddy started to get to her because within a couple of minutes she made her first attempt at submersing her face without holding her nose... and she survived!! She kept practicing and when it was her turn to swim around again, she actually listened to the teacher and put her head in!! I'm so proud of her!!!

She did really well during most of the lesson, as long as she was allowed to have some sort of floating device. It was when the teacher tried to get her to put her face under the water while using both arms to swim (meaning no holding her nose) that the fussing started. But she didn't push her... at least not too hard.
