The Vogels

Well, what can I say about the Vogels? Ray and I were married on May 17, 2008 and have 2 beautiful girls (Ainsley, age 5 and Evelyn, age 14.5 months) and are pregnant with our 3rd child (sex to be found out in 2 weeks!). Ray has his masters in engineering, but is currently employed as Director of Business Development for Jacobs Technology. He loves this job and is considering making Business Development his new career path.

I am a stay at home mom and I really do love it! Being able to watch my kids grow in this way is amazing :)! Of course, it is turning out to be alot harder than I ever anticipated. Sure, I used to hear people say that it was hard all of the time, but man, is it true!! I find it, not only physically, but emotionally exhausting! Sometimes I even feel a little jealous that Ray actually gets to leave the house and spend his day with adults and "real world" problems (just a little though :) ). And sometimes I feel like I just wasn't cut out for this job. Usually about the time I'm cleaning the 100th spill of the day out of the carpet or the 1000th time I hear "MOMMY!" being screamed from the other room while I am trying to get something else done. But those moments pass and I sit back and look at my amazing kids playing and laughing, and remember that this really is the BEST job in the world!!! Every job has its stresses. Every job has its ups and downs. But at the end of the day, and 30 years from now, I get to look back on my job and cherish every memory of my kids' childhood. I wouldn't trade that for anything!

Now to the fun part... THE KIDS!!! I'm just going to start posting some pics and telling the stories:

Apparently I'm not the only one bitten by the creative bug recently. Here Evelyn has decided that she didn't like the color of our kitchen wall... so she decided to use crayon to change it for me. And I can't get it off!!!! At least not with my first attempts so I guess I'll have to move on to more serious crayon removers. Any suggestions anyone?

Back in August, Ainsley was so excited because she was off to her first day of Pre-K at Whispering Forest Elementary School. And now, in just 3 days, she will have completed her first year! She has loved every minute of it and is already talking about her Kindergarten year.
We had a parent/teacher conference this morning and her teacher suggested that we have Ainsley tested for gifted at the beginning of next year. She is afraid that our little genious :) is going to become bored with school because she is so far ahead and could probably pass Kindergarten with no problem right now. I mean, the girl reads at a 3rd grade level... and I'm not exaggerating!! So, we'll see... maybe the gifted program will give her the challenges she needs to keep her love of learning and school alive :).

Along with her first year of school, Ainsley has also just completed her first full year of gymnastics! She loves it! They had a spring exhibition on Friday night so that family/friends could come see what our little gymnasts have been learning. I have to admit she might actually develop a real talent for this! We still need to work a little on her gracefullness, but the girl is already doing quite a few tricks! We are very proud of her!!

And here's our little ball of energy!

Evelyn is not one to sit still for very long... always on the move! We are very excited because she is starting to say more and more words. Just about a month and a half ago I couldn't even be sure she was really saying "mama" or "dada", but now its one word after another! Just this morning she said "cereal" and "banana"... and I actually understood her!! Of course, it is just as exciting for her when she asks for something and finally gets it!

She does worry me though. This is going to be our emergency room child, I can see it now. Yesterday she fell and hurt herself twice because she was climbing on her little table. Apparently she didn't learn the first time and had to try again, haha. Here she is climbing on Ainsley's desk in the playroom. She has pretty much mastered the art of getting up here. She also likes to scale the sofa and the ottoman, climb onto the kitchen table (and really anything else that has some height to it), throw herself around as if the world were made of pillows, and shoves so much food in her mouth at one time that I don't know how those 5 little teeth manage to break it all down the way they do. Sigh... she takes after her dad I guess ;).
