New Photography Page

In order to keep track of my progress in the photography department, I have made a new page in this blog called "Photography".  I just finished posting some of my favorite photos (to date) on here and will continue to add new ones as I read my books and learn more.

The photos that I have posted are, as I said, some of my favorites.  Not all of them will be what you would consider amazing... in fact very few (if any) are what I would consider to fit into that category.  However,  there are certain aspects about each of them that I really like.

Most often it is the image itself.  I really like to think I have a decent eye for what makes a good photo (whether I am always successful in achieving it or not).  I pride myself on trying to take pictures that are a little different, as in maybe from a different perspective or maybe of a subject that normally wouldn't stand out... basically I try to think a little outside of the box.  I also try to capture moments or scenes that I think will draw the viewer in.  To me, these two things are the beginning to what makes a photo really great!

Another aspect that I strive for is great image quality.  It is here that most of my photos are lacking.  Whether I am using the wrong setting, I have the wrong lighting, I am not using a tripod when needed, etc..., the quality of most of these photos is (to me) sub-par.  There may be a few that I'm really proud of, but other than that, it is this area that I think I need the most work on.  Of course, this may also be the perfectionist in me taking control as usual.  But then again, perfect photos is my goal here, right :)?!

Finally, I like some of these images because of the artistic touch I've put on them.  I've been playing around alot with photoshop, and other image altering software, and I think that sometimes a really great photo just needs that little extra touch to make it fantastic!  I don't want to have to alter all of my photos, of course, but every now and then putting a little spin on them is well worth it in my opinion:).

Anyway, feel free to check out the new page and leave all the comments you want!  I'm always curious about what others think of my photos and where you may see room for improvement... it helps me learn :).  Also, just one last tip... if you click on the thumbnails you will be brought to a larger image for a closer look.  Enjoy!
